AI Prompts Every Marketing Team Needs (With Templates)

AI Prompts

AI is now part of the marketing workflow. According to HubSpot’s State of AI research, around 66% of marketers globally and 74% in the US already use it, and 88% prefer ChatGPT as their tool. The teams getting real value are not the ones with access to AI. They are the ones who prompt it well.

This is a working prompt library, organised by function, plus a simple framework to write your own and a Malaysia-specific section most guides ignore. For the bigger picture, see How AI Is Transforming Digital Marketing.

First, the framework: RTCF

A weak prompt gets a generic answer. Use the RTCF structure for almost any task:

  • Role: tell the model who to be. “Act as an SEO strategist with 10 years in B2B.”
  • Task: state exactly what to produce. “Write 15 keyword clusters.”
  • Context: give brand, audience, goal, constraints, and voice.
  • Format: specify the output. “As a table, max 155 characters per line.”

Before and after:

Weak: “Write me some social media posts.”

RTCF: “Act as a social media strategist for a Malaysian skincare brand. Write 5 Instagram captions for our new sunscreen, aimed at a Klang Valley audience aged 25 to 35, in a friendly tone. Format each as a hook, caption, and 5 hashtags.”

Then iterate. The first answer is a draft, not the deliverable. And always fact-check, since AI can state wrong things confidently.

The prompt library by function

Replace anything in [brackets] with your specifics.

SEO

  • “Act as an SEO strategist. Generate 15 long-tail keyword clusters for [topic] targeting [audience] in [location]. Group by intent (informational, commercial, transactional) and suggest one page type per cluster.”
  • “Write 3 meta descriptions, max 155 characters each, for a page targeting [keyword]. Include a benefit and a soft CTA.”
  • “Create an 8-question FAQ optimised for [keyword], using questions real buyers ask, formatted as Q&A ready for schema.”

This pairs with SEO Keyword Mapping and the tools in The Ultimate SEO AI Tools List.

Content and blog

  • “Act as a content strategist for [brand]. Build a quarterly content calendar for [audience] across the buyer journey. For each piece give title, target keyword, format, funnel stage, and CTA. Output as a table.”
  • “Write a 1,000-word, evidence-backed blog post on [topic] in a [tone] voice, with H2 and H3 subheadings and no fluff. Audience: [audience].”
  • “Repurpose this blog post into 8 assets: [paste]. Include 3 LinkedIn posts, 1 email teaser, 2 short posts, and 2 short-video hooks.”

See Blogging for SEO for how to make AI drafts actually rank.

Social media

  • “Create a 1-week content calendar for [platform] promoting [product]. For each day give a hook, caption, hashtags, and a visual idea. Tone: [tone].”
  • “Turn this case study into an 8-slide LinkedIn carousel with a scroll-stopping first slide and a CTA on the last: [paste].”
  • “Write a short-form video script under 45 seconds for [platform] demoing [feature], with a hook in the first 3 seconds.”

Email marketing

  • “Outline a 5-email welcome sequence for [audience] who downloaded [lead magnet]. For each email give goal, subject line, key message, and CTA.”
  • “Write 7 subject line options for [campaign] aimed at [segment]. Mix curiosity, urgency, and benefit styles, under 50 characters.”
  • “Draft a re-engagement email for subscribers inactive for 90 days, with a reason to return and one clear CTA.”

Paid ads

  • “Act as a paid media strategist. Write 5 Google Search ad variations for [product] targeting [keyword], each with 3 headlines (max 30 characters) and 2 descriptions (max 90 characters).”
  • “Create 3 Meta ad variations, each built around a different pain point for [audience]: [list]. Give primary text, headline, and CTA.”
  • “Write a 3-stage retargeting sequence for [product]: remind, prove with social proof, then create urgency with [offer].”

Market and competitor research

  • “Research [competitor] across reviews, forums, and social. Produce a SWOT analysis and 5 gaps we could exploit. Note where each insight came from.”
  • “Build an Ideal Customer Profile for [product] from these traits: [data]. Include firmographics, goals, pain points, objections, and buying triggers.”
  • “List the top 5 pain points of [audience] at each buying-journey stage, with one content angle per pain point.”

Analytics and reporting

  • “Analyse this campaign data and surface the 3 biggest opportunities and 3 risks: [paste]. Format as bullets with a recommended next action each, and show your calculations.”
  • “Explain [metric] to a non-technical client in two sentences using a simple analogy.”
  • “Build an A/B test report from this data: [paste], including sample size, lift percentage, significance, and a go or no-go recommendation.”

Brand and strategy

  • “Act as a brand strategist. Draft a positioning statement for [brand] serving [audience], including category, key differentiator, and reason to believe.”
  • “Create 3 to 4 customer segments for [product] by demographics, behaviour, and engagement. For each give traits, motivations, messaging angle, and preferred channel.”
  • “Audit our brand voice from these 3 samples: [paste]. Define 4 voice attributes with do and don’t examples I can reuse in prompts.”

This connects to your wider digital marketing strategy.

Governance: use AI safely

Three rules every team should follow:

  • Fact-check everything. AI invents statistics, names, and citations. Verify before publishing.
  • Protect data. Do not paste confidential client data or personal information into public AI tools. Under Malaysia’s PDPA, mishandling personal data carries real risk.
  • Keep it on-brand. Maintain a reusable brand-voice prompt block so every output sounds like you.

The Malaysia angle: prompt for the local market

Global prompt guides assume a US audience. Malaysian marketing needs more.

  • Multilingual prompting. Instruct the language and tone explicitly: “Write in conversational Bahasa Malaysia, campur sedikit English, santai, for a KL urban audience.” Raw AI Malay often reads too formal, so add a native edit pass.
  • Cultural context. Ask for locally relevant hooks around Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, and Merdeka, and request culturally respectful messaging.
  • Local platforms and formats. Tell the model to use RM, local date formats, and channels that matter here: Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, and WhatsApp Business.

A ready local prompt:

“Act as a Malaysian social media strategist. Write 5 Instagram captions for [product] for a Klang Valley audience, mixing casual English and Bahasa Malaysia, tied to the [festival] season, with local slang where natural and a WhatsApp CTA.”

FAQ

Can you use ChatGPT for marketing?

Yes. It is widely used for ideation, content drafts, ad copy, email, and analysis. The output quality depends on how well you prompt and edit it.

What makes a good marketing AI prompt?

Specificity and context. Assign a role, state the task clearly, give the model your brand, audience, and goal, and define the output format. The RTCF structure above covers this.

Which AI tool is best for marketers?

ChatGPT is the most popular all-rounder, Gemini fits the Google ecosystem, and Claude is strong for long-form and nuanced writing. Many teams use more than one.

Is AI-generated content good for SEO?

It can be, if it is accurate, genuinely useful, and edited by a human. Google rewards helpful content regardless of how it was produced, but thin or wrong AI output will not rank.

How do I keep AI content on brand?

Create a brand-voice prompt block with examples and reuse it. Always have a human review before publishing.

Put these prompts to work

AI does not replace marketing skill, it multiplies it. Teams that prompt well, fact-check, and localise for Malaysia move faster and produce better work.
